Fluid Mechanic Trainer (Copy)
Model : FE-T-201
The Fluid Friction Experiment Unit is a comprehensive, self-contained training system designed for the in-depth study of friction head losses in incompressible fluid flows. It allows students to analyze flow characteristics across smooth-bore pipes, artificially roughened pipes, and various industrial fittings. Covering laminar, transitional, and turbulent regimes, this unit provides a hands-on bridge between fluid mechanics theory and real-world application.
This Fluid Friction Experiment Unit has been designed for students to study on the fluid friction head losses of an incompressible fluid flow. The unit is self contained supplied with facilities for students to study the friction losses on smooth-bore pipes of
various diameters and an artificially roughened pipe.
In addition to the study of losses in straight pipes, a wide range of accessories are also provided including 90º bend, elbow and T, 45º elbow and Y, sudden contraction and enlargement, inline strainer, various valves and flowmeters.
The investigation on friction head losses in various straight pipes can be done over a range of Reynolds numbers from 10,000 to nearly 50,000 covering the laminar, transitional and turbulent flow regimes in smooth pipe. An artificially roughened pipe is
supplied which, at the higher Reynolds number, shows a clear departure from the typical smooth bore pipe characteristics.
For each size of test pipe, a short sample is provided loose so that students will be able to measure the exact diameter and visualise the nature of the internal finish. The ratio of the pipe diameter to distance of the pressure tappings from the ends of each pipe has been selected to minimise end entry effects.
Isolating valves are provided so that the pipe to be tested can be selected without disconnecting or draining the system. Tests on parallel pipe configuration can be done whereby rapid and accurate flow measurement is possible over the full working range of the apparatus.
- Laminar to turbulent flow regimes in pipes
- Energy losses in pipe fittings and bends
- Flow measurement using venturi meter
- Flow measurement using orifice plate
- Use of pitot static tube
- Use of manometers
